AFL player props — disposals, goals, marks and tackles

AFL player props are almost always an over/under line on a counting stat. Disposals (kicks plus handballs) and goals are the most heavily bet, followed by marks and tackles. Ruck and stoppage markets — hit outs and clearances — attract far less attention and are where the softer lines tend to sit.

Reading a disposals line is a role question. A midfielder averaging 28 disposals against a 26.5 line looks live until you notice he has been tagged in three of the last four, or moved forward. This page ranks every player by season total and per-game average for each stat from 2015 onward, and shows the current over/under lines beside that form when live odds are configured.

Goals are the high-variance market: a single forward's output swings hard week to week, so the season strike rate matters more than the last two games when judging a 1.5 or 2.5 goal line.

Frequently asked questions

What is a disposal in AFL betting?

A disposal is a kick or a handball. Disposal markets are an over/under on a player's combined count for the match, and they are the most popular AFL player prop.

Which AFL player props have the softest lines?

Hit outs and clearances generally attract less betting volume than disposals and goals, so the lines move less and can lag genuine role changes — a ruck losing a partner, or a midfielder promoted to first use at stoppages.

How far back does the player form go?

Season totals and per-game averages run from 2015 to the current season for every stat tracked here.

How often does backing the favourite actually win, and does it make money?

These are the baselines, not tips, and the gap between the two columns is the whole point: backing the favourite picks the winner about two times in three and still loses money at flat stakes, because the price already accounts for it. The break-even strike rate at standard −110 pricing is 52.4%. Any strategy on this site is reported against these numbers rather than against a coin flip.
